Holbrook's career has also
crossed heavily into film and television. A multi-Emmy winner, at the age of 82
he became the oldest actor ever nominated for an Academy Award, for his
performance in Into the Wild (2007).
I saw Holbrook’s rendition
of Mark Twain when I was in high school and developed a love for the author
that night. I look forward to seeing his show again. If you’ve never had the privilege
of seeing this act, here is just one of many clips:

Thanks for the treat :O)
I'll have to watch this tonight when I get home.
That is an amazing career.
So much more than Barney Miller, eh? That was fabulous!
Whoah 88? Good of him to make it that far.
88 and still going strong I see.
Hello, Sylvia! This was fun to watch. Thanks for sharing!
Happy A to Z-ing! from Laura Marcella @ Wavy Lines
Jealous!
WOW I feel like I just saw Mark Twain! I found you because you left a comment on the B day that featured my book on the A-Z challenge. I am afraid that my H post is my least fave so far…but if you like HATS do swing by @ http://thebridgeofdeaths.tumblr.com/
Very cool. Twain's writing and personality were pure gold!
Hey Sylivia, My favorite post of the day. I love Hal Holbrook. I saw him in Mark Twain, too, but I loved to watch him as Reece Watson w/his wife Dixie Carter on Designing Women. Brilliant.
I just saw him in a movie that came out back in January - "Promised Land." He was so good in that, but then he is in just about every role.
Happy A to Zing!
