MIA: Hurricane Version and Prayer Request

I would like to request prayers for all those in the path of Hurricane Laura.

Many of these individuals just got back into their homes from losing them in a hurricane two or three years ago. Now they face the very real possibility of losing everything again. PLEASE PRAY.

I likely won't be around much for a while. Even if we are blessed enough not to lose anything, we will be helping others.

If you would like to keep up with those affected and watch for ways to help, please visit the facebook page: Hurricane Laura 2020

If you'd like to know more about the one three years ago, please click on Hurricane Harvey below.

Again, if you pray, please join us now.

Sad Classics

For the most part, I prefer "Happily Ever After" endings. However, I've noticed lately that I keep returning to some not-so HEA classics. I've caught myself returning to these sad tales a lot more over the last few years, and not just for teaching purposes. Some of my repeat reads include:

How about you? Do you prefer HEA? What are some of your favorite sad endings?

IWSG: Form - Genre

It’s time for another group posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group! founded by Alex J. Cavanaugh. Time to release our fears to the world – or offer encouragement to those who are feeling neurotic. If you’d like to join us, click on the tab above and sign up. We post the first Wednesday of every month. Your words might be the encouragement someone needs. You can also join us on twitter using the hashtag #IWSG, or on the Facebook page.

Now, IWSG hosts have changed up the format in an effort to make it more fun and interactive.Every month, they will announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG Day post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.

Don’t forget to visit others that day to see their answers. Want to join, or learn more? Visit our - Sign-up List.

Quote: "Although I have written a short story collection, the form found me and not the other way around. Don't write short stories, novels or poems. Just write your truth and your stories will mold into the shapes they need to be."
Have you ever written a piece that became a form, or even a genre, you hadn't planned on writing in? Or do you choose a form/genre in advance?

MY ANSWER - I've been intentionally writing short stories for a while. Most of my pieces are intentionally one form, or genre, over another.

How about you? Have you ever written a piece that became a form, or even a genre, you hadn't planned?
