I can hardly believe it's almost June already. If you didn't know, June is National Audiobook Month, when hundreds of retailers encourage people to give listening to books a try. These businesses run various promotions and discounts to get more listeners interested in the format.

The Audiobook Publishers Association has spearheaded audiobook month for a number of years. Audible, Kobo audiobooks, Google Play Books, Storytel, Scribd, Audiobooks.com, and dozens of others offer audiobooks.

IWSG: Working With Audiobooks

It’s time for another group posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group! founded by Alex J. Cavanaugh. Time to release our fears to the world – or offer encouragement to those who are feeling neurotic. Now, IWSG hosts have changed up the format in an effort to make it more fun and interactive. Every month, they will announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG Day post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.

APRIL QUESTION - Have any of your books been made into audio books? If so, what is the main challenge in producing an audiobook?

MY ANSWER - I have not published any full-length books. I tend to write short stories and articles. I am not aware of any of the anthologies I am published in being made into an audiobook either. The market for audiobooks began expanding a couple of years ago, and I feel like it is still a fairly lucrative market. I just have not had any personal experience with it.

It's Friday the 13th! Are you superstitious? Does this day mean anything to you?

I love when the 13th falls on a Friday in the month of October - a time already filled with dress-up, horror, fantasy, thrillers, and ghost stories! Whether you believe in them, or not, it can be great fun to gather together to share those spooktacular traditions.
