It’s time for another group posting of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group! founded by Alex J. Cavanaugh. Time to release our fears to the world – or offer encouragement to those who are feeling neurotic. If you’d like to join us, click on the tab above and sign up. We post the first Wednesday of every month. Your words might be the encouragement someone needs. You can also join us on twitter using the hashtag #IWSG, or on the Facebook page.
Last month I mentioned taking a chance. So far, this year has been full of "new" experiences and chances for me. I've submitted to new markets, been published in several of them, visited with new groups, loved a few of them, and traveled to new places - including Scotland!
While you can never control whether a new market will publish your work, you can control what chances you take and which new experiences to try. Those new experiences in turn can fuel your imagination, relax and even excite you with future prospects. Never give up on taking chances, trying new things, and experiencing new events.
What new experiences have you taken part in this year? Are you planning any for the future? How might you benefit from that experience?

Hi folks, thought it was about time to join this group and see what goes on. Congratulations to all those who took part in this year's A-Z. Looking forward to next year's and designing another alphabet for it.
All the best,
Mark K - 'the open hearth'
Forgot to mention, I've started posting small 'shorts' on my blog again. Not sure if this is good or not, you know, for the copyright angle of things, so would appreciate some advice on this matter in regards to it being wise to openly show your written stuff on your blog or not and the risks.
Much appreciated - thanks :)
I've been trying a lot of new things through the IWSG.
That's why I appreciate that I'm well-traveled and continue to venture to new places. It adds to our life experiences.
Scotland was really cool, wasn't it?
If we open ourselves to it, every moment offers a new experience! Love every single one of the quotes.
Trying new things invigorates the brain. We've been through enough new in the last several months, so much that I'm putting on the brakes. Too much new is not necessarily a good thing. ;)
What a great goal to have. I'm horrible with getting out of my comfort zone. I suppose I am doing that though with my new wip, a fantasy, which I've never written before! It's rather fun, if a little different. :-)
New stuff: getting published in the Parallels anthology, trying to get my short stories up on Amazon, taking the plunge into marketing.
Honestly though? I'd much rather hide away and start a new novel.
Mark - I'd love to check out your work.
Alex - Scotland was amazing and I'd love to go back!
Bish - me too!
Crystal - I know exactly what you mean.
Kelsie - best of luck on the fantasy!
Tamara - Isn't solitary writing a writer's dream state? ;-)
I love trying new things! Food, travel, you name it. I went to Boston earlier this year for the first time. Love that Dickinson quote!
