Youth: Teach Them

I want to teach my children to have a close relationship with our Lord and Savior. Prayer habits that last a lifetime are most often formed in childhood. As adults model meaningful prayer lives, kids will learn how they, too, can talk to their Creator. That’s why each day this month I will be writing a prayer inspired by a different letter of the alphabet and sharing an accompanying verse from the Bible.

We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. He decreed statues for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our forefathers to teach their children.
Psalm 78:4-5

Lord, I pray You help me to be a good role model as I teach my kids to know You. As a spiritual teacher, empower me to pray for them and with them.  Help me to provide clear instruction and a consistent example so my children can form good prayer habits and a strong relationship with You. Give them a hunger for You. Give them a desire for prayer. I know I am not perfect, but I submit to You. I ask that as I follow Your example, Lord, they will follow mine and be people of prayer. Amen.

What a lovely theme for A-Z, and what a wonderful prayer:) Makes me thankful for having role models growing up who placed importance on nurturing one's spirituality. Those lessons learned so long ago still help me to navigate our world without compromising my faith or losing my spiritual way(I hope!). Glad I stopped by.

Being a role model is probably one of the best ways to teach our children. The old adage 'our actions speak louder than our words' is SO true. My husband encouraged me once to pray at a time that my children would be sure to walk in on me so that they could SEE me praying. I worried about having that time interrupted by needful bodies, but what better way to fill a need they don't even know they have. :) Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog first. Glad to have found you. :)
