Robin Williams - dead at 63

"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits, and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman: 'O me, o life of the questions of these recurring, of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities filled with the foolish. What good amid these, o me, o life?' Answer: that you are here. That life exists, and identity. That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?" - Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society

Captain, you will be missed. Thank you for the beautiful verses that you contributed!

  2. I remember that scene very well. One of my favorite movies and favorite actors. It is unbelieveable that he is gone. So sad.

  3. I loved that movie; and I liked every movie I ever saw with Robin Williams. So sad that he, who brought so many smiles on the one hand, and a deep appreciation of life's meaningful pursuits (as in The Dead Poets Society) on the other, should have given up the journey before his time.

  4. I was lucky enough to see him do stand-up a few short years ago. What a tragic end to a tumultuous life.

  5. It's crazy, right? You just never know where a person is at emotionally, no matter how much success they've achieved.
