Identity: Knowing Who You Are

I want to teach my children to have a close relationship with our Lord and Savior. Prayer habits that last a lifetime are most often formed in childhood. As adults model meaningful prayer lives, kids will learn how they, too, can talk to their Creator. That’s why each day this month I will be writing a prayer inspired by a different letter of the alphabet and sharing an accompanying verse from the Bible.

This is what the Lord says… “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”
Isaiah 43:1

Abba Father, it is so easy to lose sight of who I am and what I should be doing. Yet, Your scriptures so lovingly remind me I am Your child and that You claim me regardless of my faults and mistakes. This is a love I never truly appreciated until I had children of my own. I come before You today with gratitude for who I am - a child called, redeemed, embraced, claimed and loved by You. Let this knowledge stand firm as the center of my identity. I belong to You now and for eternity. Amen.

  7. If people knew they were children of God FIRST, they would have more peace and less suffering. Interestingly, to comment on any blog, you first must "choose an identity." They need a box that says, "God's girl." :-)

  8. I love your theme! I will be following you from now on. Loved today's prayer and so true about not being able to fully appreciate his love for his children, until you've had children of your own.

  12. Beautiful. I was just reminded of this yesterday when I was feeling sad about not being married or making anything important in my life. God knows who I am and created me to be this person. He has greater plans than I could ever imagine.

  18. Do you know this book? It's based on a popular children's hymn.

"I am a child of God and he has sent me here, has given me an earthly home with parents kind and dear.

Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do to live with him some day.

I am a child of God and so my needs are great. Help me to understand his will before it grows too late.

Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do to live with him some day.

I am a child of God. Rich blessings are in store. If I but learn to do his will, I'll live with him once more.

Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do to live with him some day."

Thanks for sharing. Hope you like the song.
