Attitude: Living as Jesus Did

I want to teach my children to have a close relationship with our Lord and Savior. Prayer habits that last a lifetime are most often formed in childhood. As adults model meaningful prayer lives, kids will learn how they, too, can talk to their Creator. That’s why each day this month I will be writing a prayer inspired by a different letter of the alphabet and sharing an accompanying verse from the Bible.

Put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires…be made new in the attitude of your minds; and…put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:22-24

Dear Lord, our outlook on life is based on our heart and mind. Cleanse us from worldly views and grant us a sincere desire to live as You did: obedient in thought, word, action and attitude. Amen.

  9. Come Thursday, I'm taking part in our church's Living Last supper. It's interesting to think about how the apostles struggled with understanding Jesus, and their role in spreading the word.

Guess if they grappled with obedience and understanding even as they stood beside the Teacher, it's okay that I struggle, 2,000 years after the fact. I find hope in that.

  11. Oh wow! I LOVE this idea. Can't wait to read more prayers.

My parents modeled meaningful prayer lives for my brother, sister, and I. We even prayed as a family. I'm so glad they raised us the way they did! It's helped mold me into the woman of God that I am today.

    Thanks for this post!

  18. Hi Sylvia, nice to "meet" you! Your post is beautiful. It is so important to teach children the things we hope to instill in them for life.

Even though I am not a religious person, I find comfort in the faith of others. Prayers are a beautiful things...a meditation, a voiced hope for humanity. Thank you for sharing. I'll be back again. :-)

  24. Living as Jesus did can be a bit tricky, since our world is so very different from his.

But faithful in thought, word, action, and attitude is good, in any context.

  31. Sometimes we need the prayers of others to inspire us to find the words we are looking for. I'm doing a catch up, however, so glad I found this.
